Worse place ever, Went to the pediatric site and the receptionist is rude as hell, that place look like a football field, the receptionist with others so loud phone ring and place in hold so they can continue with the gossip. The pediatrician have no clue of what she's doing, bubble bling around, very unprofessional with tight leggings, showing off, inappropriate for children. When you call and ask for the manager, there is never a manager onsite, the patient bathroom nasty. I will never take my children to this place.
Staff excellent, nurse practitioner treated us with professionalism. Very satisfied with overall experience..
So much has changed over the past 10 or 15 years when it comes to the consumer of anything including medical care. Directness is in. Just try to grin and bare it, it's better for you.
I like the Chiefland Medical Center. I used to use a UF Shands doctor but you couldn't get in to see them when you were sick. I started seeing Dr. Winston and now he is my "family doctor." The staff there is friendly and I'm glad we have them so close here in Chiefland.
I was called into the back area where I was weighed and asked to sit down for my blood pressure and temperature. I explained to the nurse that it was painful to sit so if it is ok to stand. The nurse asked me why am I here for today. I told the nurse I was there for a UTI. I explained this had happened once before. I explained to the nurse I was urinating blood with some blood clots. She asked how big were the clots. I told her about the size of a pinky nail. The nurse gets up and walks away. About a minute later the Physicians nurse returns and tells me that I have to go to the hospital. I explained that this was not necessary because I had this once before about 2 years ago. I explained that my Chiefland Medical Physicians Assistant at that time asked a few questions and took a few tests to verify it was a UTI and prescribed me antibiotics. I could not understand why I was being told to go to the hospital by the doctors nurse and being refused to be seen by the doctor. I said to the nurse "the doctor has not even seen me yet". The doctor then stepped out of the corner as if he had been listening to the nurse talk to me. The doctor says you have to go to a hospital you could have something seriously wrong with you. I tried to explain to him that I had a UTI about 2 years ago and was treated at Chiefland Medical. I explained that all I needed was an antibiotic. The doctor said you could have something wrong with your kidneys. I explained to him that I had an ultrasound done within the past year and everything was clear. I said it would all be in my file since I have been a patient for 15+ years in good standing. The nurse started rifling through stacks of papers from my file as the Doctor says I don't even know who you are, I'm not going to treat you. I asked him how he could refuse to treat me, are you not filling in for my P.A.? He said I am not going to see you, you could be anybody, I don't know who you are and I have never seen you before. At this time the nurse keeps saying 2013 over and over. I asked the doctor to just look at my file and see my history. Again the doctor said I won't see you, you have to go to a hospital. I replied, that is not right, how can you do that? I asked him how he could just refuse to see a patient of one of his Physician's Assistants. I asked him doesn't this make me your patient automatically? At this point he started to become belligerent and turned to the nurse and said do what you have to do to get rid of him. Then the doctor muttered something about payment. I said you know what, I have to go, this is ridiculous, you people suck. I went up to the window where you pay and had my $40 co-pay in my hand. I waited for the people in front of me to be done. All the office staff walked away when it became my turn. I could see the nurse still looking through my file so confused as to what just took place. I am waiting to pay my bill with my money in hand and nobody is coming over to take my payment. Finally someone came out of the back office and asked if there was anything else they could help me with. I replied yes a real doctor. I just want to pay my bill and get out of here. At this point the entire staff is whispering to each other as they look at me cringing in pain. Then the so called doctors nurse comes to the window and says what are you doing? I told her I was waiting to pay my bill. She says their is no bill. I replied that would have been nice to know 5 minutes ago. Since I was not allowed to remain in the office I had to go outside and called my wife to come and pick me up and she was doing errands. I had no where to lean up against, it was hot outside and I thought I was going to pass out. My wife arrived saw my condition and went to ask why a 15+ year patient is being refused to be seen. I became irate when the girl at the front desk began to smirk at our situation. It was the most unprofessional staff experience either one of us has ever experienced at a medical facility. Chiefland Medical sent me a certified letter canceling me as their patient.
